SUPPORTING CHARITIES

SPORT FOR CHARITY

Cube offers charities many different levels of support; ones which create and develop innovative opportunities that help charities achieve their charitable objectives. These include offering free, or favourable rates, to support a charity’s own event, developing creative fundraising opportunities, and collaborating on a focused activation.

In-house, our team members are given £250 each per year in order to support a personal charity of their choice.
We also actively support our team’s participation in fundraising events.

GREAT CAUSES

SPECIAL OLYMPICS GB

Inspirational, emotional, rewarding, empowering and humbling, just some of the emotions that portray our time spent partnering SOGB and the team of amazing volunteers that delivered a most exceptional sporting experience to a nationwide group of inspirational athletes. Whilst our principal role was managing the event’s licensing, merchandise and retail operation, we also offered our services to support branding, sponsorship activations and on-site organisational assistance.

Our team immersed itself in the event programme and delivered great results in key areas. More importantly, we engaged with the athletes, their families and coaches and created new and sincere friendships that are still thriving today.

The Cube team left Sheffield, the event’s host city, enriched by the experience. We made an amazing group of new friends and all were desperately keen to continue supporting the charity.

FOR THE LOVE OF SCRUBS

Responding swiftly to the challenges of Covid-19 with the development of our Don’t Pass It On hand sanitiser stations allowed us to see, at first hand, the challenges NHS front line workers faced with regard to their day to day life dealing with PPE, hygiene and endless safety regimes at the end of their shifts.

As an event retail business, we carry a large stock of event and promotional clothing which, during lockdown, remains relatively unused. Given this, together with our client Event Merch, we donated hoodies, t-shirts, caps and bags to our local charity, supporting the Worcester NHS trust. The clothing was both issued to NHS staff to change into after their shifts and were turned into scrubs bags, masks and aprons by the charity.

This comment, from one of the nurses, is all the reward anyone could ask for: “When a kind soul calls and asks if you’d like a scrub bag with hats, bags, T-shirt’s, and headbands for 4 days – another random act of kindness from someone in our lovely community of droitwich 🥰. I didn’t get to meet her, as it was delivered extremely quickly, but thank you 🥰. I am thriving on the kindness our society is displaying.”

THE UK SEPSIS TRUST

‘A personal experience’ by Cube’s CEO, Andy Moss:

Cube’s relationship with the UK Sepsis Trust was formed through first-hand experience of the ruthless effects of sepsis on our young daughter. Unaware of sepsis as a killer, we endured the nightmare of her struggle to survive and stay alive, fighting multiple organ failure and the ravaging effects of the condition. Luckily, we were hugely fortunate and owe the survival of our daughter to the incredible team at Worcester ICU, who were relentless in their efforts to keep her alive and ensure she pulled through.

At the time, Jemima was only 16 years-old, a young, fit and dedicated sports woman. These were no doubt contributing factors to her survival. It all started with cold and flu like symptoms; symptoms so normal that this is often the reason why sepsis goes undetected in the early stages. When a patient’s condition deteriorates, however, as it did with Jemima, time becomes critical as the infection attacks the body’s organs and the body starts to shuts down.

As a family, we had no prior knowledge of sepsis and following our experience, we were shocked to read the terrible fatality statistics and the severe after-effects the infection bestows on many of those who do survive. We engaged with the UK Sepsis Trust and soon realised that the key to lowering the death rate was simply raising the condition’s awareness through promoting the Trust’s message: ‘Just Ask – Could it be Sepsis?’. If treated early enough, sepsis can often be totally manageable and treated at home with antibiotics.

As a group we now engage fully with the UK Sepsis Trust and have become one of its life-saving partners. We integrate the Trust’s activations into our own events and brokered a sponsorship arrangement with Worcester Warriors which included the hosting of a national Sepsis Awareness Day.

DISABILITY SPORTS COACH

Cube Management has recently formed a partnership with Disability Sports Coach. Disability Sports Coach is a charity that supports disabled people to enjoy the benefits of physical activity. The charity creates worthwhile sport and physical activity opportunities that have a positive impact on disabled people’s lives.

The charity ensures this by:

  1. Delivering high quality sports and physical activity provision for the community and educational organisations
  2. Maintaining expert knowledge of disability sport
  3. Educating the next generation of aspiring coaches, leaders and teachers on inclusive sports provisions

As a sports events company, Cube often carries surplus stock of merchandise from previous events. So, during lockdown, we decided to donate these items to charities, including Disability Sports Coach with the aim to help support and boost morale among their beneficiaries during the Coronavirus pandemic.
